In summer 2022, we decided as a group of companies to step up our commitment to sustainability and take responsibility. Six months later, our project has blossomed in the form of a reforested area of woodland, which has become a reality thanks to the generous donation of 10,000 trees by WM and now covers around 2 hectares of woodland.
With the WM-Forest project, we want to make a contribution to the reforestation of a spruce forest in the Harz Mountains that was destroyed by bark beetles and create a mixed, species-rich and resilient forest that provides a diverse habitat for plants and animals and is able to cope with the challenges of climate change.
The area is located on the banks of the Gartental dam in the district of Goslar. In addition to oak, lime and beech trees, other tree species such as cherry, larch and beech were also planted here.
The World Cup forest has now grown to a total of 20,000 trees thanks to further tree planting. Further information on our commitment to sustainability can be found in our World Cup blog.
The topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly important in our society and on the labour market. For this reason, we are taking part in a comprehensive series of training courses organised by Treuhand on the subject of sustainability. By taking part, we want to make our contribution in this area. In the training programme, which is funded by the European Social Fund, participants learn the basics of sustainability management in order to meet the challenges of sustainable management.
We are part of the PARTSLIFE initiative. We want to make a contribution to environmental protection and ensure that all harmful or toxic substances that we produce are disposed of properly and in accordance with legal regulations. We therefore also encourage our customers to work with PARTSLIFE to protect our environment so that future generations can also enjoy a carefree life.
PARTSLIFE´s main tasks include coordinating disposal in independent garages and providing support and advice on all issues relating to disposal. PARTSLIFE sees itself as a nationwide, cross-product disposal and recycling system for used parts from car repairs in the independent aftermarket - similar to what car manufacturers offer their brand-bound authorised workshops. PARTSLIFE fulfils this task with a nationwide network of certified disposal companies with around 100 locations in Germany.
